How to Apply Aqua Hybrid Ceramic Coating
Step 1 — Wash, Decontaminate & Prepare
- Wash thoroughly with Alpha Foam pH Neutral Car Shampoo to remove dirt and road grime.
- Perform chemical decontamination and/or clay-bar treatment as required.
- Ensure the surface is clean, smooth and free from bonded contamination.
- Inspect for scratches, swirl marks, stone chips and imperfections; address defects where practical.
- Car Studios strongly recommends paint correction or gloss enhancement where appropriate before coating.
- After polishing, wipe down using Alpha Prep Degreaser to remove polishing oils and residues. Ensure the surface is clean and dry.
Step 2 — Prepare & Prime Your Applicator
- Start with a fresh, clean applicator pad and apply approximately 6–8 drops evenly across it.
- Gently place the applicator on a clean, flat area, preferably the bonnet.
- Without pressure, move the pad in a plus-sign (+) or small circular pattern to distribute coating across the applicator.
- Once primed, proceed with the normal coating application.
Prime each new pad once, replenish as required without oversaturating, and replace pads that become contaminated or hardened. Allow the applicator to glide without excessive pressure.
Step 3 — Apply the Ceramic Coating
- Work on one panel or manageable section at a time.
- Outline the area, then apply evenly in a crosshatch pattern, horizontally and vertically.
- Use gentle, consistent movements without pressure.
- Allow the coating to flash before levelling, monitoring the coating's appearance and working conditions.
Recommended flash time: At 10°C–26°C, average flash time is approximately 1–2 minutes. Actual timing depends on coating thickness, temperature, humidity and section size. This is a guide, not a fixed waiting time. Do not allow excess coating to harden on the surface.
Single-layer system: One correctly applied layer provides the intended protection.
Step 4 — Level the Coating
- Use a first clean, dry microfibre towel to level the coating and remove excess.
- Work carefully around contours, edges and adjoining surfaces.
- Ensure no visible excess remains before moving on.
Do not use water mist to level Aqua Hybrid. Use clean, dry microfibre towels and buff thoroughly.
Step 5 — Final Buff & Inspection
- Use a second clean, dry microfibre towel to remove remaining haze and residue.
- Inspect for streaks, high spots and uneven coverage using suitable lighting.
- Check adjoining edges and panels.
- Change microfibre towels frequently to avoid transferring accumulated coating residue back onto the surface.
Never move to the next panel until the current section is fully levelled, buffed and inspected.
Step 6 — Curing & Aftercare
Aqua Hybrid requires approximately 4–7 days for full curing. During this period, avoid washing, harsh chemicals, aggressive cleaning and unnecessary contact. Protect the vehicle from water exposure, particularly during the initial curing stage, and follow the manufacturer's instructions. A clean, sheltered environment is recommended.
Important Application Advice
Preparation is essential. Ceramic coating does not remove existing scratches, swirl marks or paint defects.
Wash → Decontaminate → Inspect → Polish → Alpha Prep → Prime Applicator → Apply → Level → Buff → Cure
